Last month, when my family and I were in Bangkok, we relied on GrabFood for our meals. There are times when dining out isn't feasible – perhaps the kids are asleep, or we're just too tired. The convenience of having meals delivered with just a few taps is something we’re truly grateful for.
Being a regular user of GrabFood in Ho Chi Minh City, I opted for the familiar service in Thailand. Though I saw LINE MAN drivers around, suggesting another popular option, this time I'll share the delightful meals we enjoyed through GrabFood.
Kua
We struck gold with our first order. I was so taken with the quality of this restaurant serving Thai classics, that I got worried if any other meal during our stay could match up. We ordered 3 dishes- Pad Thai, Pad krapow, and Kua Gai noodles.
The dishes that won me over were Kua Gai Noodles - stir-fried thick rice noodles with chicken and egg - and Pad Thai. Having never tried Kua Gai before, I was instantly hooked on its chewy, sweet, and savory noodles. The dish was hearty, thanks to its generous portions of chicken and egg.
Given another chance to visit Thailand, this would definitely be on my must-eat list. My husband preferred the Basil Chicken over Pad Thai, making our culinary preferences a perfect match.
9กุ้งอบ ปูอบ.
Next, we ventured to order Poo Pad Pong Curry from a restaurant named 9กุ้งอบ ปูอบ. We heard rave reviews about the Poo Pad Pong Curry at Somboon, but we couldn't take our kids for a fancy place, so we opted for delivery from another place instead.
My husband, being a crab enthusiast, had us order the curry alongside a crab omelet. Thinking two dishes might not suffice, we also added shrimp porridge to our order.
Every dish from this restaurant was a hit, particularly the Poo Pad Pong Curry, which was richer and more delicious than I had imagined. Its cute name, "Poo Pad Pong", became a catchy tune as we savored the meal.
หัวปลาช่องนนทรี - ถนนพระราม 3
Our third delivery was chosen for its Poo Pad Pong offering as well. This time we opted for the curry and a pork brisket dish. As this was a late dinner following a day of dining out, we weren't very hungry and stuck to just two dishes.
Once again, the Poo Pad Pong Curry didn’t disappoint, packed with sweetness and the rich umami of crab. It seems any restaurant's version of this dish is bound to be delicious, making it a genius culinary creation akin to Japan's beloved beef bowl.
The pork brisket, however, was unexpectedly spicy, challenging even for someone with a high tolerance like myself. It had me reaching for plain rice to temper the heat.
our delivery dining experiences in Bangkok. While we thoroughly enjoyed eating out and exploring, delivery allowed us to easily enjoy local cuisine without leaving our accommodation. Having the option of delivery while traveling can enhance your trip, allowing you to save energy while still indulging in local flavors.
I hope our experiences can serve as a helpful reference for others.
